Cape Town Science Centre

A great place to take your kids is to the Cape Town Science Centre in Observatory. We went with a group of homeschoolers for this outing and it was jam packed with exploring all the different stations, a lecture on genes and a video (in an inflated sphere) about dinosaurs! Day made for Leah! Anything remotely relating to dinosaurs is a super highlight for this dinosaur crazy kid!

We ended off the Science morning with different experiments done by the Science Centre’s Scientist 🙂 They learnt about different types of elements and how different reactions take place depending on what chemical was used. A very ‘explosive’ and exciting demonstration.

You can find out more info about the Science Centre here.

Clay Cafe fun

If you know my daughter Leah, you will know she is quite a creative little girl. She loves to draw, paint, sing and dance and if she could, she would probably try and do all of it at once.

Recently, as a treat, we went to the Clay Cafe in Hout Bay. They have opened up new premises which provides much more space for playing and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. You pay a studio fee for the item you will be painting. The studio fee includes a choice of three colours, firing and glazing. They have a range of objects to paint from cups, plates, bowels, serving dishes to popular objects like Olaf and fairy figurines. You can check out their website here.

This was one of the Adventure Clubs outings we signed up for and one that we will definitely be repeating! Both my girls are finally at an age where they can sit for a good amount of time and focus on a task at hand. They both worked so diligently on their pieces.

To end off the day they enjoyed babychino’s and a play in the Clay Cafe’s amazing and super kid friendly play area!

It has been a busy few weeks!

I have let this little homeschooling journey blog down these last few weeks but I have good reasons 🙂

We have been doing a lot of outings, enjoying the nice Summer weather while we can. I have also signed up to a lot more Adventure Clubs outings lately in an effort to capitalise on the social factor for Leah. If you haven’t heard about Adventure Clubs, I really recommend you check it out asap! Download the app and get adventuring! So many free and paid adventures await you, lots of kid friendly places to visit and of course lots of new and awesome friendships to be made while you adventure with other moms/dads and kiddies.

I will be posting over the next few weeks some of our top fun outings we have done these last few weeks.
